North Haven Island Wedding: Nina and Robert

Nineteen years together, and finally, a wedding. Nina and Robert’s love story has always been steady and true, and when the time came to celebrate it officially, their choice was simple: they wanted Nina’s father there to officiate the ceremony. At ninety-five years old, his presence was a blessing, and their wedding day was planned around the joy of having him be part of it.

A Home with History

The ceremony was held at a family home on North Haven Island — a house that holds more than just family gatherings. It was originally brought over from Norway by Nina’s relatives, carried across the ocean plank by plank, and rebuilt here in Maine. The walls have witnessed generations, and on this day, they became part of another chapter: vows spoken, laughter shared, love affirmed.

A Ceremony Led by Family

One of the most moving details of the day was that Nina’s father not only attended, but also officiated the ceremony. At ninety-five, standing before family and friends, he guided his daughter and Robert into marriage with words full of love and wisdom. It was a moment no one will ever forget.

The music, too, came straight from the hearts of loved ones. Family and friends played throughout the ceremony, filling the the air with warmth and meaning. Every part of the day felt intentional, woven together by community and love.

Reception at Turner Farm

After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Turner Farm, one of North Haven’s most iconic venues. Overlooking the fields and the thouroufaire, the reception felt relaxed and joyful. Guests shared a meal, raised glasses, and danced. It was the perfect balance to the intimacy of the ceremony — a chance to savor the day together, surrounded by nature and community.

Why North Haven Island Matters

North Haven Island, like so many places along Maine’s coast, holds a sense of timelessness. It’s the kind of place where the ocean feels close, the pace slows down, and moments settle into memory. For Nina and Robert, it was more than just a location — it was part of their family’s history, part of their story, and the perfect place to gather with their loved ones.

And for us? We absolutely love photographing on North Haven. There’s something special about the light, the landscapes, and the way people slow down and connect when they’re here. This trip was even more memorable because we were welcomed so warmly — staying in the home of one of their friends made us feel like part of the island’s rhythm for a few days.

Closing Reflections

This North Haven Island wedding wasn’t flashy, but it was unforgettable. It was a reminder that simplicity can carry profound meaning, and that the presence of family — both young and old — is the greatest gift of all.

Nina and Robert’s story is a testament to patience, devotion, and the kind of love that doesn’t rush. Nineteen years together led to this day, in a home with roots across oceans, with a celebration at Turner Farm, surrounded by music, family, and friends.
