Portland Head Light Wedding: Meg and Joe

I was photographing solo for this wedding. It was a nice petite size so I felt confident I could cover the event all by myself. Bigger weddings just have too many people present for either Dan or me to feel confident we are able to photograph everyone and the event itself. I braided my hair (which means I mean business) and waited for them to arrive at Fort Williams. The ceremony spot overlooks the most famous lighthouse, the Portland Head Light. Soon they arrived and walked up the hill to where I was excitedly awaiting them all. People often arrive and then mill about, unsure of what happens next or where they are supposed to be. This group eventually assembled in a wedding ceremony formation, and moments later, Meg came up over the hill. It was cinematic.

After the ceremony, we took family photos and then bid everyone farewell. We had some sweet couple photos to take around the park! We casually walked around and found a few places we could be close to the lighthouse and then close to the water. Afterward, we headed over to the Saltwater Grille, where they held their reception. The Saltwater Grille has one of the best views of Portland at night, that I know of. Its directly across the harbor in South Portland, and you can watch the sunset from their big beautiful windows. Its a great spot for a reception, and Meg and Joe snagged a spot in their summer lineup.
