Coastal Maine Elopement with Emily and Matt
As we have been doing lately, I, (Bethany) photographed this sweet elopement solo. Not working with my partner in all things is always a bit lopsided for me. Dan always works with couples for a few minutes while I can be quiet and come up with an idea for my next composition. Without Dan the long pause happens and we all enjoy that, or I try and keep the conversation going while Im thinking about pictures. Either way, it’s different than my usual wedding approach, which always makes me feel like fresh mint.
One thing I love about City Hall here in Portland Maine, is that they always have the Clerk’s Office decorated seasonally. You can tell if the wedding was in Halloween, The Fourth of July, or Springtime. I try to make sure that a little of that “time and place marker” makes it into my elopement stories. Emily and Matt were possibly even more easy going than I am. They were down for any weird idea that I had in my mind and from the looks of it, I think they might have even had fun. We stayed in the City Hall area for a little while and then we headed over to Two Lights State Park. It’s one of our favorite places to photograph and even more favorite to take family and friends when they visit. Its stunning. After the photos, we wanted to go get ice cream, but alas, the shoppe was closed. Emily still gave me a fantastically random pose for the final photo.
