Hudson River Valley Bengali Rehearsal Dinner: Parker and Inaya
Parker and Inaya’s Rehearsal Dinner was the first event of our 2025 wedding season! We traveled to Poughkeepsie NY, which was across the river from the venue, Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa. Its nice when we get to meet everyone the night before, and with this wedding, we even got to enjoy the venue the day before as well.
Their rehearsal dinner included a lot of Bengali traditions, like The Gaye Holud. The colors and sounds and smells were vibrant. The couple and her family greeted everyone as they arrived. All guests were given a sweet treat and lots and lots of hugs. A little while into the evening, they began the Gaye Holud and it lasted a wonderful while since the couple had small sweet conversations with everyone who came up to them. My favorite part of the night was when a band performed for everyone. We all sat down and enjoyed the music, some of us sitting on the floor and others in chairs. We were all quiet and focused on the same thing, hearing that music bring connection to us all in that time and place. It felt very intimate and bonding. Its not often I sit on the floor and close my eyes at a wedding.
It was an evening drenched in color and excited energy. We were excited to see what the following day would hold.
