New Hampshire Seacoast Rainy Day Elopement with Shawn and Lis

It rained the whole time we were with Shawn and Lis. As selfish as it sounds, I was happy about it. I love rain on a wedding day. It helps to wash away pretense. That being said, Shawn and Lis were already calm. They welcomed Dan and I into their little rental cottage by the sea, and introduced us to their dog and hiding cat. We felt at ease with them immediately, which is something we always hope people feel with us, but rarely experience it the other way around. It’s not that people are rude or unkind to us. It’s more that people are so polite and scared of us that we know they aren’t quite open yet. Its a New England thing maybe… or a photographer thing… but either way, it wasn’t a factor with Shawn and Lis. We were already there.

The cottage provided shelter from the rain so we spent a cozy time with them inside, taking the portraits and couple photos at ease. The only thing they really asked us for was motorcycle photos, and those would come at the end of the day. Once it was time for the ceremony, we headed over to the ocean and met the officiant. She is queen of course because she had no qualms about performing the ceremony out on the jetty in the rain. It was an absolutely storybook dream ceremony. Cinematic and romantic like I love.

The only thing left to do was for them to ride off into the sunset to their “happily ever after”. So they did.
