Acadia National Park Elopement with Betheny and Carey

When I think back to the wedding day of Betheny and Carey, the locations we were able to photograph are what stand out, (besides these two epic human souls we had as our subjects of course). Dan and I always talk about how many places on the side of the road, are absolutely worthy of a whole wedding day shoot. There are incredible vistas around every bend in Acadia. Often couples ask us where to go and the honest answer is anywhere. Its all gravy. Rarely though, a couple will do their own scouting and find places for us to go. Betheny and Carey picked these locations out and even checked them out for lighting at the right time of day. Five stars. No notes. Maybe sharing the same name made us kindred spirits?

We met the in the parking lot of the National Park Visitor Center, and headed over to the Great Meadow. We have passed this spot for years and always thought it would make for some cool pictures. I’ll always be thankful to them for picking it out. It was the perfect spot to start our photo/wedding adventure together. Next it was off to the Wild Gardens of Acadia for their ceremony. We had been here once on a personal vacation but never thought to take clients there. Again we can thank Betheny and Carey for this spot. One of our bsolute favorite officiants, Adam of MDI Weddings, made things legal. He’s very good at that. When Betheny and Carey had their first married kiss, they laughed and were elated. This really happened. They really are married! There really was red lipstick on Careys lips now, and a kiss mark on his cheek too.

We headed over the ocean and climbed around on the rocks, took more photos in amazing light beside the parking lot, a stop by the stables, and the finale at gorgeous Jordan Pond. I could have spend a whole weekend with these two. I wish they lived closer and we could have dinner together regularly. Ohio is just a little too far away for me.
