O Maine Studios Wedding with Darrah and Doug
An absolute blast yall. Thats what Darrah and Doug’s wedding at O’Maine Studios in Portland Maine felt like to us. It was fun times from our arrival until long after we left (we can only assume).
Things began for Darrah and I in the West End in Portland. Doug was in a hotel nearby with Dan. After both parties were ready, we united again near the West End Cemetary, on a little ledge Dan and I like. While Darrah and I were waiting for the boys to arrive, a neighbor from across the street came to flower Darrah with compliments. Before we knew it, we were agreeing to come over in a few and take photos at their house with the flowers and views that we would never have access to otherwise. Darrah and Doug had their first look, some nuzzles and kisses, and exchanged their private vows. Afterwards we went over to the neighbors house, climbed up four flights of stairs, and took photos in the Widows Walk at the top of her house.
Next we headed to the ceremony and reception venue, O Maine Stuidios. This was our first time photographing there and it was a super cool industrial spot in the heart of Portland. When I rounded the corner after Darrah and her dad has walked down the aisle, I was greeted with a super challenging lighting situation, that Dan was already working through. Afterward, a photographer who was a guest came up to us and said he was stressing FOR us during the ceremony. It wasnt a perfect lighting situation but weddings rarely have perfect lighting. Its something that we dont have control over and have to work around (and with) at every wedding. I think it turned out pretty cool myself. Its fun to work hard and reap the rewards of something new.
The reception was a party from beginning to end. The dance floor was full and unhinged. The “studio” part of the space was super fun to work with too since it was an infinite white backdrop and colorful DJ lights. We were vibing.
